SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
The Hezekiah Movement Summer Food Service Program will run from Tuesday, June 28, 2016 to Friday, August 26, 2016. The Summer Food Service Program for children and teens is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and is administered locally by the Baltimore Housing Office of Community Services. As an extension of the National School Lunch Program, which is designed to guarantee eligible children free and nutritious breakfasts and lunches during the school year, the Summer Food Service Program was created to guarantee these same youngsters at least one nutritionally sound meal a day during their summer vacations. This dates are subject to change if students have to make-up snow days at the end of the school year.. |
SPIRITUAL REFLECTION MEETINGS
Every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m., people in recovery gather for food, fellowship, sharing, support and prayer at our Island of Hope. The meeting provides a forum where people can come together in fellowship to be nutured spiritually. Each meeting focuses on a central theme that is intended to strengthen and deepen our understanding of recovery. Participants are encouraged to share, challenges, and their current joys as they continue on the journey of recovery. Every meeting is concluded with: "THE PRAYER FOR RECOVERING PEOPLE" O God you know the horrors and pains of addiction. You know how those horrors and pains cause so much suffering for so many people - those addicted, their loved ones and their community. So to you we turn O God, for healing and for new life. Touch those afflicted with addiction. Let enslavement give way to freedom. Let hopelessnes be replaced with hope. Turn tragady to triumph. Let all those hurt by addiction be born to new life in recovery. In your love o God heal us all. Let us become people of your hope, of your freedom, of your peace, of the fullness of life with your and one another - Amen. |
